Jitendra Kumar CLARIFIES rumors about quitting Panchayat and fallout with TVF: “There was a misunderstanding”

Clearing the Air About Leaving the Show

In a recent interview with India Today, the actor explained, “There was a lot of panic, and I could see that all over social media. The last season ended on Abhishek’s transfer and that also spurred the buzz further. There was a misunderstanding, and honestly, main bhi pareshan ho jata tha (I would get troubled) answering the same questions. At one point, I was like aur mat poochon, bandh karo yeh (don’t ask about it, end it now).”

Thankfully, as Jitendra already knew the rumors were false and was actively preparing for season 3, it didn’t significantly impact him. The release of the Panchayat 3 trailer effectively put the rumors to rest.

Jitendra on Panchayat’s Impact and Longstanding Relationship with TVF

Jitendra also addressed the show’s influence on his career, acknowledging his long association with TVF. “Given I have had a long association with TVF, people were worried about what went wrong,” he said. “I understood it’s their love and we just waited for the first trailer to end all speculations.”

During the interview, Jitendra also spoke about the diverse fanbase he gained through Panchayat. He credits the film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, released around the same time in 2020, for expanding his audience. “The youth knew me from my earlier sketches, but the film introduced me to families,” he said. “So, when Panchayat came out later, there was more interest from that demographic. It’s been a gradual process, and my fanbase keeps growing with each project.”

About Panchayat

Panchayat follows the story of Abhishek, an engineering graduate who reluctantly takes a job as a panchayat secretary due to limited employment options. The show’s debut on Prime Video was in April 2020, with season 2 arriving two years later in 2022. Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, Panchayat has garnered critical acclaim, winning the prestigious Best Web Series (OTT) award at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
